    • This is followed by a series of titles introducing the characters in cartoon form.

    • Before the cartoon summary of the characters appear, the movie opens on the two main characters who are madly in love on a beach. 
    • The cartoon clip of characters focuses on showing each person's personality. 
  • What connotations do the images carry?
    • The two main characters being in love on a beach signifies summer love coming to an end.

    • Music with lyrics is playing throughout the opening to show that this is a musical. Also there are bright colors and exaggerated movements, which are two key factors of musicals.

    • The opener cuts from summer love to a cartoon, this creates curiosity because the viewer wants to know what is going to happen to the couple and how all these characters being shown are significant.

    • Music along with romance and colors are used to target people who enjoy musicals because those are elements in almost every musical.

    • The first shot was an establishing shot of the beach that then cut to a wide angel shot showering the young couple on the beach.
    • Also, the lighting signified the sun setting, which is important because it shows their time is running out and sunsets are usually seen as romantic.
